A Holiday Reading List

If you’re like me, you’re looking at some extra downtime during the Thanksgiving holiday, and a good book sounds just about right. If inclement weather hits, and rain is in the forecast, a good read may be in your future. Here’s a couple good books to consider:

IoT for Dummies, by Lawrence C. Miller

I admit it, I had no clue. The internet of things? The idea that a whole new world of cyber business was evolving in thatmysterious, spooky virtual realm took me completely by surprise, but it’s agreat read. Here’s a few of the gems I picked up:

50% of business leaders worldwide either have or will be implementing a strategy incorporating IoT services this next year. By 2020, the IoT market in North America and Europe will jump to $1.2 trillion with a compound annual growth rate of 13.1%. Someone stands to be making a great deal of money through all of this.

As it turns out, there is a way to make the digital transition easier. Naturally, it involves pre-planning in three basic areas:

  • Scalability and efficiency
  • Management and connectivity
  • Security and social responsibility

Keeping abreast of shifts in the business culture, whetherour businesses implement them or not, is a part of leadership. This book coverswhat the concept entails, along with how to plan and implement strategies for asuccessful shift to a more fluid internet commerce. I’d endorse this as a greatread for Chamber members.

But let’s say this topic leaves you cold. Perhaps you’dbe more interested in some self-improvement? I have another option for you:

Iloved this book! You, friends, represent the leaders of your businesses and ourcommunity, and your willingness to self-inspect, to grow, is what makes you theleaders you are…you’ll love this book as well. I found both books on my Kindle,so give them a look and see what you think!
